This pipe pleases me much more thanks the OEM on my TU250X. First of all, the original is too long to put the bike on a paddock stand or torque the rear axle without taking the exhaust off. This became really boring, so I looked for a shorter exhaust. This one solves that problem.
People say it’s loud, and to be honest it took me a while to get used to it. The first few days, it seemed obnoxiously loud and I was really paranoid about the attention it was getting. However, after using it for a month, I don’t know if it’s possible it’s got quieter, but it really doesn’t bother me. In fact, I love it! I can actually hear the revs, which I couldn’t with the OEM job. It sounds raw. It snarls like a tiger at low revs, and drones like a hornet at high revs. It snaps, crackles and pops on decel. If you don’t like the sound of this - I didn’t either, but I really love it now. I think the reason is that it’s not actually that loud. Sounds loud to the rider, and yeah, people might turn and look when you rev hard or when it pops, but it’s not loud enough for the cops to care here.
The reason I won’t give 5 stars is that I had to think carefully about buying this since I was worried about excessive noise, and it seems Tuva could have made a couple of solutions known. Firstly, they used to offer a tuneable baffle, which they don’t anymore. But most importantly, they apparently offer a modification to this pipe, where they baffle it better and weld in a crumb cup - but this is not offered on the website, and I only found out after I had ordered. In any case, I don’t care because I love the way it sounds, but if you are worried about noise it might be good to know this.
